The Colts traded up to select Beranek, who hails from the Czech Republic, 11th overall in the 2010 OHL Import Draft.
The slick right winger has been a point per game player in the Czech and Finland U-20 and U18 leagues over the past three seasons, not to mention he is a plus player.
Beranek is a good stick handler with good playmaking abilities. He has a hard heavy shot with some good goal scoring ability. A smooth skater, he has average speed and could work on his skating overall.
Beranek has the physical tools and size to succeed at this level. But he may be a project for the next level. He'll take this season to adjust to the North American game and should come into his own next season in the OHL. An NHL team that can afford to wait for his development, could take a chance on him earlier in the draft than most.
