Series tied 1-1
A more determined, better rested and better prepared Spitfires team took to the ice on Thursday on the WFCU ice in Windsor on Thursday as they looked to even their series with Owen Sound at a game apiece.
A Tom Kuhnhackl one timer took just 43 seconds into the contest to put Windsor up 1-0 when he beat Attack goaltender Scott Stajcer. It was Kuhnhackl's 9th goal of the playoffs. But just like Windsor scored in the opening seconds, Owen Sound would close out the first period scoring with just 9.6 seconds remaining when Robby Mignardi scored his seventh of the post season to tie it at one.
Jesse Blacker would give Owen Sound the lead midway through the second period when he scored on a two man advantage. It was Blacker's fourth of the playoffs and his second powerplay goal. Kerby Rychel would tie it at two before the close of the second period with his second of the playoffs who once again send the teams to their rooms with the score even.
Zack Kassian would notch his sixth when he threw the puck towards the net from the boards and it bounced in off an Attack defender with less than two minutes gone in the period to put Windsor up 3-2. Kuhnhackl would score his second of the contest into an empty net to close out the scoring.
Scott Stajcer would make 19 saves for the Attack while Jack Campbell was very solid in making 33 saves for Windsor.
Game 3 goes Saturday back in Owen Sound.
