OHL Defenceman of the Month – Ryan Murphy, Kitchener Rangers

Ryan Murphy of the Kitchener Rangers led all OHL defencemen in October scoring with 18 points in 12 games scoring seven goals and 11 assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-3 and just two penalty minutes.  He produced five multi-point games in October after earning just three in 62 games as a rookie last season.  He opened the month with his first career five-point game on October 1 against the Erie Otters where he was named first star with a goal and four assists in the 7-3 win.  One week later on October 8 he produced a four-point game with a goal and three assists as second star of a 7-5 win over the Barrie Colts.

Murphy, a 17-year-old from Aurora, ON, is playing in his second OHL season with the Rangers.  Eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Murphy will represent Team OHL at the 2010 SUBWAY Super Series on Thursday November 11 in London, ON.
