From ESPN

A little tidbit from Gary Joyce over at ESPN

"It came as a bit of surprise when Kitchener D Ryan Murphy was sent home from the Canadian under-18 team's selection camp in advance of the Ivan Hlinka tournament earlier this month. Murphy is a skilled, puck-moving blueliner who isn't quite six feet tall but survives and thrives because of his skating and his game smarts -- in other words, he is just the sort of defenseman that would be expected to do well in international play on the Olympic-sized sheet.

That's what more than a few on-lookers at the Canadian camp thought as well.
"Hands down he should have made that team," one NHL amateur scouting director said. "
