Gabriel Landeskog, Kitchener Rangers RW 6' 0" 200 lbs In 2009, at the WJ U18 he recorded 4 goals in 6 games along with 24 PIM.
He played 61 regular season games for the Rangers with 24 goals and 21 assist and 51 penalty minutes in his rookie season. In 20 playoff games he added 8 goals and 15 assists to go along with 18 penalty minutes.
While his regular season stats may indicate a shoot first mentality, (he really does create most of his own scoring opportunities) his playmaking ability came to the forefront during the playoffs being paired with Jeff Skinner. His vision is above average and finds his man in the seams more often than not. At 6’ 200 lbs, he’s not afraid of the rough stuff and the dirty areas, nor along the walls, which is shown by his 3 fighting majors in the OHL. He’s not afraid to take a hit or make a hit, especially against bigger players.
Is a technically sound skater with good speed. Could work on his first stride, but is otherwise sound in his skating ability. With increased ice time and responsibly for the 2010-2011 season, count on Landeskog being over a PPG player, especially if he continues to use his playmaking ability.
